Matt is a projects lawyer, working on energy and major infrastructure initiatives. He advises sponsors, developers, contractors and equity financiers on construction, operation, supply and services agreements, regulatory compliance and risk. After leaving school in Newcastle, Matt decided to pursue his dream of living and working abroad. After a year of volunteering for charity in Uganda, where he taught at a primary school and volunteered at the local hospital, Matt returned to the UK for university in York.

From there, he took the opportunity to return to Africa with a wildlife conservation project in Botswana, where he worked at Modisa Wildlife Project and helped out on game captures, as well as taking volunteer groups up to see gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. From there, he has continued to visit and work in East African parks and has seen gorillas in every park in Uganda.

Matt is now the Managing Partner of our Johannesburg office and heads our Energy focus group for Sub-Saharan Africa. His experience covers a broad spectrum of projects and industries including coal, gas, oil and renewables.
